The name of former president of Nigeria, GOODLUCK JONATHAN, has been mentioned in the trial of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, OLISA METUH.



The name of former president of Nigeria, GOODLUCK JONATHAN, has been mentioned in the trial of the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, OLISA METUH.The PDP spokesman is facing a seven-count charge of money laundering, and the matter continued today before a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The matter continued today with YOMI BADEJO OGUNSANYA who is the Managing Director of CMC Connect; a public relations agency, appearing as a witness.
OGUNSANYA told the court that he had been hired by the former president as a consultant to try and sell his image to Nigerians, ahead of the 2015 presidential election.The Prosecution witness narrated how GOODLUCK JONATHAN made contact with him through OLISA METUH and paid the sum of seventy-seven point five million naira for image management.He recalled that a meeting where he was introduced to JONATHAN by METUH also had in attendance former vice president, NAMADI SAMBO, former PDP Chairman ADAMU MU'AZU; former Senate President, DAVID MARK, former presidential adviser, REUBEN ABATI, as well as Professor RUFAI ALKALI and Doctor DOYIN OKUPE.
The witness said he received his first payment on 1st of December, 2014, through a check issued in the name of Destra Investment Limited.
On December 15, 2015‎, the witness said METUH did a transfer from Destra Investment Limited in the sum of seventy million naira to his company to cover publicity services for the PDP presidential campaign.Also speaking; another prosecution witness, KABIRU IBRAHIM, claimed that the accused person through NICOLE ARARUME, sold one million US dollars to him at the rate of one hundred and twenty-two naira to a Dollar.IBRAHIM said that the converted cash‎ was transferred into the account of Destra Investment Limited.Addressing newsmen outside the court; the Prosecution Counsel, SYLVANUS TAHIR explained what happened in court.On the other hand, one of the lawyers in the defence team, IFEDAYO ADEDIPE said OLISA METUH will give his side of the story with time.You will recall that OLISA METUH was granted bail in the sum of four hundred million naira and two sureties in the sum of two hundred million naira each, in addition to other conditions.
METUH is also facing a separate set of two-count charge of criminal destruction of evidence and property of the EFCC, for which he was granted bail in the sum of three hundred million naira and two sureties in like sum.
